Șchei is one of Transylvania’s most mysterious and intriguing neighborhoods. It is an ancient location (it seems people have lived here for thousands of years) and has a unique energy. There are many stories and legends associated with it, many of which discuss sanctuaries, spirits, ghosts, wizards who mastered the rain and hail and rode dragons, and witches and how they entwined with people’s daily life. I photographed it several times and am constantly amazed to rediscover it as time passes.
